I like purple, it's my favourite color, but I have never designed any of my sites around the color ~ that is until it came to Kemnay's site, and with nothing to follow I went with my heart..
I wondered about this, was it just 'cos I personally wanted to add purple or was there another reason?
The last incarnation of the site was purple too but with nothing to explain why, and although this time it might not be so obvious (the purple that is) the theme or design idea for me anyway has never changed: not since day one almost 5 years ago ~ (it turns out I just needed to find the right thistle!)
To me it was always going to be purple and green for the thistles the heathers and the very rare Scottish Primrose! ~ The view I have out of my window every day mostly goes to these colours, the green can be the foliage of the trees, weeds, grass, distant hills and the purple can be the blooms of the summer, the heather patches on those hills, the thistle heads or maybe just the colour of the sky in winter and storms, I just couldn't imagine any other color that represents us more.

The Scottish Primrose is a small, rare but beautiful wild plant that can be seen in flower during the summer months from May onwards.
The greys/green are representative of the subtle tones we take for granted every day, the subtle shadows come from the hills round about us, the yellow/orange is a popup bloom of broom/gorse foliage whether it's wanted or not. or where it's least expected at times
I've spent way too long studying the dynamics of how colors affect sites and their readers, so I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed putting together this site from the heart on the sleeve POV :) ~ now of course you may feel free to disagree with the choices
