What's a blog?

Hi I'm Claire and this is my blog.

Let's get the boring bit out of the way first..

What is a blog, well "blog" is basically short for "Web Log" with author said to be the "blogger" It's a very basic means of keeping an online journal that allows the author to share his/her own opinions instantly and obtain feedback and discussion.

Blogs within a bigger site (like this one) can best be described as mini sites or mini directories, populated with the author's personal opinion.

I don't quite know what will go here (on my personal blog) yet but perhaps some views and news from around Kemnay as I see them, they will obviously all be related to Kemnay in some way as that is the purpose of this site. There may be others interested in maintaining a blog here at Kemnay too, but this is an experimental feature to see how it goes.

However you must remember that the views expressed in any particular blog (Except the one in Kemnay's name) are the authors only and not necessarily representative of the site owner or any formal body in or around Kemnay.

For those not familiar with blogs, then you are encouraged to reply to blog posts if the comment feature is open, agree, disagree add information etc.. but be aware that if you use the comments to troll (defintion: to post controversial or provocative messages in a deliberate attempt to provoke flames) or spam (definition: To indiscriminately send unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant, or inappropriate messages) the blogs. The authors all reserve the right to delete inappropriate comments as he/she feels fit.

If the blogs are abused constantly the feature will be disabled.

I'm sorry for getting heavy in my first post, but I wanted to get it out of the way with and as you've likely guessed, I've been around community sites for years and have seen the unfortunate side effects features being abused (even the BBC had to disable all their discussion features for a while because of it). I really want for the village to enjoy the same community atmosphere we enjoy in the High Street, so let's give it a whirl shall we?
