It may well be worth you attending the next Community Council meeting or at least bringing it to the attention of them, (select 'local council' in the category) -
It's a shame that it seems to have become overrun and misused, it would be a bigger shame to see such a nice local POI (Point of Interest) being avoided :(
I so agree with your letter in the September issue of the newsletter. I checked the responsibility for maintainence some time ago with Aberdeenshire Council. The upper slopes where the stones are is their responsibility. All the lower grounds and pathways are the responsibility of Scottish Greenbelt Co. These are the same people who maintain the grounds for residents in the Fife Park estate and with whom in the past they have trouble. My complaints have always gone unheeded. Place of Origin is not a pleasure it is a wilderness!
My understanding is that the Greenbelt Group Ltd remain responsible for the upkeep of the point of origin. I am under the impression they were given funding to undertake this work. I believe some land along Fyfe park was handed back to Aberdeenshire council, but the point of origin remains their responsibility. Will check with a neighbour who is more up to date with this matter and get back to you if different. I totally agree the place is overgrown and a terrible mess. As far as any dealings with Greenbelt Group go ....................................good luck!! They aren't known for being helpful or carrying out works unless forced to do so!
Place of Origin
I'd like to know who is responsible for this too. In places the paths have almost completely disappeared. With narrow paths and high weeds it isn't easy to walk and is also being used by folk on motorbikes. A bit scary when you can hear the bike but not know if it's just about to hurtle into you at speed.
The paths need to be cleared of grass & weeds and restored to their original width.
