PLANNERS' BACKING FOR NEW CAR FIRM
A New car business could soon be opened in a North-east town.
Motor firm Auto Select Woodlands has lodged an application to start up a sales firm on Aquithie Road, Kemnay.
Planners have recommended that councillors at the Garioch area committee give proposals the go-ahead.
But the brakes have been put on further plans to build a house at the same site.Plans would see a former broiler house, which lies in the proposed site, demolished to make way for an industrial-style building.
Car display areas would be formed at the front and side, with a customer car park at the centre of the plot.
Planning permission for four houses on the same site were scrapped in 2003.
One letter of objection has been received from Aggregate Industries, which runs nearby Kemnay Quarry.
It expresses concerns of future conflict between the two businesses.
Plans for the business look likely to go ahead.
But the house looks set for refusal as proposals go against the local plan which protects countryside from residential development.
Committee members will make a decision on the application at a meeting in Inverurie on Tuesday.
