Garioch RFC based in Inverurie Aberdeenshire has just decided to commit to continue giving free rugby coaching to local primary and secondary schools in its catchment area.
This season Garioch has provided free coaching for 40 hrs per week in the first 2 x terms and for 17hrs per week in the 3rd term.
The ambitious Club has catered for a total of 19 primary schools and 3 x academies this year alone. It hosted a primary schools fun day in October to which 151 school kids participated. A tri-academy tournament between Kemnay, Meldrum and Inverurie academies was held in November. It is hoped to accomplish the same again in the 4th term.
The Club has been getting financial assistance from the SRU plus sponsor companies including Baker Oiltools, Protech Centreform, Ferguson Modular, Dynamic Equipment Company, IKM Testing, Tawse Tyres and Bon Accord Landscapes which provides the training kit. It is hoped that this continues for the 4th term.
Special appreciation is given to Lawrence of Kemnay for providing loan cars for the 2 x coaches.
