The Church In Kemnay

The Church in Kemnay goes back as far as the 12th century, but not until the middle 1600's were there any Parish records kept. Although there was a church on the same site as the existing building, in the middle of the 19th century the original building was demolished to make room for a larger one, to cope with the increasing population, and this was finished in 1844.

A Church Logo Further extensions were carried out in 1871, 1907 and 1928. The former Free Church (with the clock tower), off Kendall Road, united with the Church of Scotland in 1935 and this building now serves as the Church centre.

Kemnay Church Centre was completed in December 2000 as the millennium project for the Church and it is for the use of many organisations of the Parish. It contains a modern suite of halls, a new kitchen, toilets (including those for the disabled), baby changing facilities and many other useful facilities. The surrounding area has been landscaped and the car park upgraded. A special feature is the modern coffee bar "Loaves and Fishes" which is run by volunteers from the Church and the Community. The surplus funds are distributed to the church and the community to encourage service at home and overseas. The Church Centre has small meeting rooms and large halls and is used a great deal by various local groups.

St Anne's Episcopal Church have their own building on Kendall Road

Both the Parish Church of Scotland and St.Anne's Episcopal Church work together in care and outreach in the Parish, supporting Christian Aid and Tear Fund. There are a number of Bible Discovery Groups, Children, Youth and Adult Groups.
