POLICE MATTERS :
Inspector Allan gave us a more in-depth report on the quarterly update that Community Council has just received for Jan to March 2004. Over the past 6 years, a steady decrease in the reported crimes has occurred with the most recent peak in 2000 of 1808 reported crimes in the Gordon area. For 2003 there has been a 30% reduction in reported crime since 2000, which is now at it lowest level since 1998. The Kemnay/Monymusk beat area has seen a 36% decrease however the ‘Top Two' volume incidents in the area are vandalism and road collisions with a total for Gordon of 299 and 220 respectively. In Kemnay since 29th April to 27th May there have been 26 reported crimes of which 9 were vandalism, 3 breaches of the peace, 6 road traffic offences and 3 thefts. We are asked to be vigilant and report all incidents to the police in order that a full picture of the types of crime are all recorded and can be dealt with.
MINUTE OF MEETING HELD ON 29TH OF APRIL 2004
ADOPTION PROPOSED - Susan Milton
SECONDED - Roger Dunham
QUESTION TIME:
This is an opportunity for members of the public attending to ask questions or raise issues at Community Council.
ABERDEENSHIRE NEWS
Cllr Leitch informed us of the news from Aberdeenshire Council. The interview for the post of Head Master at Kemnay Academy will take place on the 8th of June more news on this at our next meeting. Mr Leitch attended the Park and Pavilion Committee meeting and they are to clean up the old toilet block. Aberdeenshire Council are still looking into a toilet facility at the Pleasure Park however the level of vandalism and cost of continual repairs to the last toilet block lead to it being closed as it was unfit for use more times than it was able to be used. We ask that people do try to respect property and facilities for others to use.
PLANNING APPLICATIONS:
only 4 for Kemnay and none of which caused any concern.
DISUSSED CHICKEN SHED:
We have raised this with SEPA and Environmental Health as it is dangerous and is causing great concern and we will continue to liase with these agencies to get something done.
YOUTH CAFÉ:
Will open on the 18th of June.
WAR MEMORIAL:
The tidy up and replanting are now complete and it looks excellent our thanks to Landscape Services and all who helped with this.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVES:
The Village Hall is a very well used resource but the committee are in need of help with the organising and bookings. Mavis Wainman and Isabel Herron do a fantastic job but they desperately need some more volunteers to help them in this task as after their long and valued service to the community, they would like to retire or at any rate slow down the amount of activities, they are involved in. We would ask that if anyone can help with the Village Hall and the Village Newsletter to please get in touch with Mavis Wainman as all help is welcome.
KEMNAY VILLAGE SPORTS DAY - 26TH OF JUNE:
This will be held at Kemnay Academy and will have sporting activities carried out by Primary 6 & 7. The PTA are involved but as yet no other local groups. If you would be interested in the day either helping or promoting your club please let us know and we will pass your details on to the organising committee.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING 27TH OF JUNE:
ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.
