Community Council Elections

These are held every 3 years, and the last one was in held in 2006, this page will have further details and the ability to download a copy of the nomination form, when required

Aberdeenshire Council has expressed the intention, in the interests of democracy, to bring decision making processes nearer to those who may be affected. Proposals have included the formation of consultative committees and it may be that the role of Community Councils will be modified.

About Kemnay Community Council

The Community Council was established in 1977 and there may be 15 councillors elected every three years.

Their remit is to ascertain and express the views of the residents of Kemnay to local authorities and public bodies and to take action in the interest of residents as appears to be practicable and expedient.

Kemnay Community Council

A.G.M. 26th March 2009

Chairman's Report

This has been the last year of the three year term of the current Kemnay Community Council. For the first time in, I believe, around twenty years it was necessary to hold an election for the next Council, and while this did entail some work it was very encouraging to see that there were so many people prepared to step forward and to serve on behalf of Kemnay.

It has been a varied year, with fewer major issues than have occurred in the recent past, but nonetheless a good deal has been achieved.

Kemnay Community Council Elections, 2009 

There are fifteen vacancies to be filled. Nomination papers will appear in the January newsletter and forms will also be available in the village.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ELECTION

 A person seeking election to a Community Council must be aged 18 years or over and either:

 (a) appear on the Electoral Roll for that Community Council area at the date of being proposed  for membership of the Community Council; or

 (b) have during a period of at least three months preceding date of nomination had their ordinary or principal place of residence within the Community Council area; or
