The Killing House was situated across from where the scout hut now stands and could have been in use until possibly the late 1930s. By the 1950s it was being used as a garage for the local carrier but was eventually burned.
It is more than likely that the Simon family lived in a house adjoining the killing house as there were several properties between that and the present hotel.
Elizabeth Simon, ms Glennie, was born in Inverurie around 1840 and the couple had around seven of a family, five of whom were born in Kemnay.
It would appear the Elizabeth Simon was staying at 30 Charlotte Street in Aberdeen and by 1901 there is no mention of the name Simon in Kemnay. The ashes of Leslie Simon aged 89 of 84 Medley Street Gulgong, NSW Australia were interred in Kemnay Churchyard on March 1 1985.
Elizabeth is commemorated in the original Kemnay Churchyard:
In loving memory of James Simon who died 12th June 1882 aged 38 Years also his children Isabella and Cathren who died in infancy also of his wife Elizabeth Glennie who died 14th Sep 1895 aged 45 years also Leslie James their grandson, son of Leslie Simon, who died 25th March 1910 aged 4 months.
