Early Morning Bus 16th May 2007

in ::

If by chance the chap that was running for the bus at 06:00 this morning outside the Kirkstyle Garage reads this blog............I have complained to George Devine at Stagecoach on your behalf.  The bus was early this morning, shown by the fact that we waited at Blackburn, the Airport and Moat House at Bucksburn, so there was no excuse for the driver not waiting for you.

 It is that last thing you need at that time in the morning and the drivers should show some sense and responsibility.

Cheers

Peter

Finally We Avoided the Airport........

in ::

This week Stagecoach have finally got their buses to avoid going to the airport at peak times, only a week later than their timetables and posters on the buses indicated. Still better late than never, and I even managed to get home in the light last night, all in time to pick a small boy up from footie.

Then again I didn't think the bus was going to make it this morning as the engine died as we tried to move off from the High Street. I always think they put the best bus on for the early customers.................who needs heating in the winter anyway!? I suppose I should just be grateful that we do have a regular bus service and get on with it.

220 Buses (again)

in ::

It looks like there has been a partial success for those wanting to go straight to and from Aberdeen without a scenic tour of the airport.

From the 19th Feb it looks like at least the peak hour buses will avoid sitting in the queue to rejoin the stream on to the A96.

Coming back in the evening the 16:30, the 17:30 and the 17:55 leaving town will come straight back to Kemnay, removing 25 minutes from the journey.

In the morning the 06:24 the 06:58 and the 07:23 will take you straight into the office or school and avoid driving round to the airport just to check it is still there.

River Don Flooding in Kemnay

in ::

My name is Katie Forbes and I'm studying Civil Engineering at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. Now that I'm in my fourth year I have had to choose an area that interests me to research for my dissertation. Being interested in the area of water and having lived right next to the Don lead me to the interesting topic of flood prevention along the Don. I'm looking for some help from the people in the area who may have some interesting photos or stories that they could share with me to help with research into how and where the worst of the flooding has occurred over time.

If you have any information that you would like to share with me, then you can either email me at the web address below, or send photos (which I can send back if you give a return address) and/or stories to the street address also below. If you would prefer, I can arrange to meet with people, who would rather just tell me stories or show me pictures for what they remember.Thank you for your time.

The 220 Back to its Original Route - in 8 to 10 Weeks Time!!

in ::

It looks rather like the pressure applied by lots of members of the "220 Community" has come to bear on Stagecoach Bluebus and they have agreed to return the peak time 220 buses to their original route i.e. not going via the airport. Stagecoach have also agreed to move the times of the buses returning from Aberdeen in the evening to their original times, that is, the times they have been running at for many years and the ones that people have organised their lives around!

When is an ATM not an ATM?

in ::

following Kintore's recent saga with the Clydesdale Bank lately has been interesting, though not funny for them I imagine.

when the CB closed in Kemnay it was met the same disdain as other rural places, some, like New Deer, have solved their problems by taking the initiative buying the building and reselling to another bank, now Kintore are holding them to ransom over the ATM.

The New 220 Bus Route - Via the Airport!

in ::

I did feel the need to try and get some response from Stagecoach as to why they has changed ALL the 220 buses to go via the airport as they go into and out of town. I did also copy my email to local MPs and the P&J. The P&J seem keen to print something about this, but we will just wait and see. This is a copy of what I sent to Satgecoach on Thursday 28th Sepetember, and have so far had no response to:
