Kiddiwinks January term

in ::

https://www.facebook.com/Kiddiwinks.of.Kemnay

We are now looking to take names for the January term for our 2's group.  Our sessions are held in the cricket pavilion on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Fees are £3.75 per session, for 2 hours.  Kiddiwinks is fortunate to boast its own garden and safe access to secure outside playtime.

Having just recently hired a new playleader, we have received wonderful feedback from parents, and even the local health visitors.

We run our terms in-line with the local schools, and take the same in-service days and closures.

Chess Success

in ::

Kemnay Primary School entered, and won, the longest running chess event for juniors in the North East, the Primary Schools team tournament. This competition has been held annually for 33 years and this time the event was run jointly by Aberdeen Chess Academy and the North-East Junior Chess Association at Northfield Academy on May 10th. Nine of the top teams from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire joined battle in a 5-round Swiss event, where winners play winners and losers play losers.

The 4-player teams from Smithfield and Kemnay Primary set the early pace with victories in the first two rounds but when they met in round 3 the Aberdeenshire side emerged victorious in a titanic struggle. In the next round they were given a real scare, however, by Muirfield who won on the top boards to ensure a drawn match. Going into the last round any of 3 teams could still take the trophy and with 7 sides in contention for second and third spot. Kemnay held their nerve to defeat Tullos and move into an unassailable 9 match points and 15 game points (boards won). St Joseph's overcame Smithfield to move into second spot with 6 match points but they could be passed by Quarryhill if they could gain a clean sweep against Kinellar, but in the end they could only win 3-1 and so had to settle for the third prize.

Just couldn't not say it really,

Isn't it rare having this great weather for the kids (and us adults too ;)) during the school holidays?

I imagine the shops are doing a roaring trade in icicles and BBQ stuff, if our household is anything to go by and It's a pleasure to walk through the village and see everyone with a smile on their faces while ootside newsin'

Long may it continue!

Kemnay Schools Anti-Social Behaviour Posters

Pupils in all three schools in Kemnay (Kemnay Academy, Kemnay Primary and Alehousewells Primary) were asked by the local Grampian Police schools liaison officer to design posters which would highlight anti-social behaviour problems in their village and help to reduce them.

The role of school liaison officers is to interact with the schools to reduce substance abuse, vandalism, road casualties etc. This has been successful in Kemnay.

The winning posters, one from each school, highlighting the pupils' concerns about grafitti, vandalism and dog fouling in the village, are shown below.
